ATO | Authorization to Operate | The official management decision given by a senior organizational official to authorize operation of an information system and to explicitly accept the risk to organizational operations (including mission, functions, image, or reputation), organizational assets, individuals, other organizations, based on the implementation of an agreed-upon set of security controls. |
BYOL | Bring Your Own Licence | BYOL means that a client is bringing a license into their cloud tenancy from another Government of Canada contract, where Supply Chain Integrity and terms and conditions are already completed and negotiated. |

CP | Contingency Plan | A contingency plan is a course of action designed to help an organization respond effectively to a significant future incident, event or situation that may or may not happen |
CI/CD | Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery | Continuous integration is focused on automatically building and testing code, as compared to continuous delivery, which automates the entire software release process up to production |
DSE | Designated Support Engineer | The DSE is an assigned product specialist who serves as a point of contact to assist Customer with its technical support experience and provides technical support triage to help resolve identified product issues. |

PaaS | Platform as a service | PaaS is a category of cloud computing services that provides a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure typically associated with developing and launching an application. |
Marketplace | Cloud Marketplace | A cloud marketplace is an online storefront operated by a cloud service provider. It may be used as configured machine images (CIS)/ hardened machines or different OS's for example. The market place can be 3rd party or the CSP. Microsoft for example has Cloud Cycle for HPC and a few other things that are paid outside the regular service. It provides customers with access to software applications and services that are built on, integrate with or complement the cloud provider's offerings. A marketplace typically provides customers with native cloud applications and approved apps created by third-party developers. Applications from third-party developers not only help the cloud provider fill niche gaps in its portfolio and meet the needs of more customers, but they also provide the customer with peace of mind by knowing that all purchases from the vendor's marketplace will integrate with each other smoothly |
Protected B | Protected B applies to information or assets that, if compromised, could cause serious injury to an individual, organization, or government. | |
RIs | Reserved Instances | RIs are a way to reserve capacity and use it for specific Virtual Machine sizes or storage purposes. |
SBDA | Science Based Departments and Agencies | For Science Based Departments and agencies the department/agency is dedicated exclusively to scientific research, a good example being the National Research Council Canada. In other cases the organization conducts scientific research within the framework of a much larger mandate, such as the transportation research undertaken by the Transportation Development Centre in Montreal which occurs as part on the general transportation regulatory function of Transport Canada. |
SSO | Secure Sign On | Single sign-on (SSO) is an authentication method that enables users to securely authenticate with multiple applications and websites by using just one set of credentials. |
SA&A | Security Assessment and Authorization SA&A | Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) is the process of obtaining and maintaining a management decision to authorize operation of an information system or a service and to explicitly accept the residual risk of an agreed-upon set of security controls, and the results of continuous security assessment |

Oxygen | What is Oxygen | Oxygen is the science programs Microsoft Azure Tenant. A cloud tenant is a logical partition within a cloud computing environment, such as a public or private cloud, that is used to isolate and secure resources for a specific organization or group of users. |
Production | What is Production environment? | A production environment is where the latest versions of software, products, or updates are pushed live to the intended users.
